Order a green Umweltplakette in advance or obtain it in person from an authorised issuing point. Check the required documents, delivery options and processing time, and whether your route enters an active Umweltzone.
Ordering online
For an online order, visit GreenStickerGermany.com. Check the provider’s current requirements for documents, delivery destinations and timing before ordering.
Buying in person
German registration authorities, technical organisations and authorised workshops can issue stickers. Check the particular branch, opening hours and foreign-vehicle documentation before travelling.
Choose an issuing point outside a zone you cannot yet enter. Driving to buy a sticker does not itself grant an exemption. Availability at an arbitrary filling station cannot be assumed.
Documents to prepare
The issuer needs the current registration number and technical vehicle details, normally from a registration certificate or suitable technical document. An unclear standard may require manufacturer evidence or a retrofit certificate.
Follow the selected provider’s document instructions and make sure the current registration number and necessary technical data are included.
Photograph complete documents sharply and without glare. The emissions-standard guide explains where to find the data.
How far ahead to order
Allow time for document checking, issuance and transport. Dispatch is not delivery. Confirm the delivery estimate for your destination with the selected provider before travelling.
For departure the next day, confirm an in-person option or a specifically available express service. An online order is not an immediately usable digital sticker.
Final checks
The sticker must match the current plate, be issued from correct documents and be affixed inside the windscreen. The green sticker’s number 4 is not Euro 4. Munich and Stuttgart can impose additional diesel restrictions.
There is no annual renewal, but it must remain legible and match the plate. See the full sticker guide and German zones.
