Zone details
Area covered
The Bath Clean Air Zone covers specified roads. Check the authority’s boundary map before approaching a hotel or car park.
Who pays?
The basic class C categories exclude ordinary private cars but include vans, minibuses, buses, lorries and taxis.
The usual standard for affected light vehicles is Euro 4 petrol or Euro 6 diesel; buses and lorries generally use Euro VI. Check the actual category, especially for a motorhome or taxi.
Vehicles registered outside the UK
The national CAZ checker does not support emissions checks for every non-UK vehicle. If it cannot assess your registration number, follow the city’s foreign-vehicle instructions and document the technical details.
An exemption or record accepted in London or another city does not automatically settle this local scheme.
Payment and dates
If a charge is due, check the current rate and payment procedure. The national service gives a deadline of six days after the journey; advance payment is also possible.
CAZ charging days run from midnight to midnight. Driving across midnight can affect two days. Confirm any exemption or refund conditions with the authority.
